here's where to post what you think about how the charaters changed and dissapeared, and which set you prefer.

I like the "New Beginning" Spyro, better than the previous ones.

In the previous games he was too much of a smartaleck, especially in AHT.

I like Cynder also, better than Ember.

No more Ripto.
He's been over-used.

I wouldn't mind Alura returning.

i miss the old insomniac spyro and all the characters that were in that era. i thought that the characters were much easier to warm to and had much more lively and fun personalities. i especially miss shiela and bently and i preferred the old baddies.

Bentley in "Year Of The Dragon" was great, but he ended up wussified in AHT.

One character I really never liked was Moneybags.
(Although chasing him at the end of YOTD was fun.) smiley

Ripto was ok as a bad guy the first time.
After that he got boring.

Cynder though was more like the bad guys I like, soft-spoken, yet malicious as all heck.

I just wish they would have done more with Alura.
You can tell she has a sweet spot for Spyro.

I've only played the original three games and ANB, but ultimately I like the ANB characters more. They have more heart and are easier to relate to.

I do love the old Spyro games, though. Sheila and Elora and some of the elder dragons in the first Spyro were my favorites. But, man, Spyro was a jerk. cheesy A lovable jerk, yes, but still a jerk.

Looking purely at gameplay the new games are night impossible to even compare to the old Spyro games... Glitches, repetitive gameplay, short timespan, virtually no replay value apart from concept art and maybe dark Spyro, the same annoying enemies over and over and overall just poor quality games...

That said... I have to agree that some of the new characters are interesting to say the least.

I dont like that the New Spyro has no Downsides to his personality, hes perfect, except at times he can be pretty dumb.

Old Characters for me

b/c the storyline is a bit more mature for the spyro games. He's getting older and so should everything else. Besides Cynder is definately a keeper in my opinion because Ember[or whatever her name was] was horrible tongue. I would be eternally depressed if Spyro went back to her and ditched Cynder. yupp. grin

Cynder was a standard NPC, like every other random character in each level in the first games. She just so happens to be a dragon that has a crush on Spyro.

I think she's overrated, but after Elora was the only real female character Spyro could go with I guess Ember was a addition for fanfic writers and thus ended up paired with Spyro before Cynder showed up, who luckily is a more deep and rounded character.

I still prefer the old Spyro over the new games, simply because they were more fun to play. The new ones are alright, but feel rushed and extremely repetitive. I like the co-op play of the last one, even if it's rather tedious and all I end up doing is constantly moving in the opposite direction as TrainerSpyro. ^^
